Black Salt and its Uses

Starting a series of posts, we'll explore different tools and materials commonly used in Wicca, where they come from and how they are used including tips and tricks

Today we look at "Black Salt" and the kinds of scenarios it might be used for.

Traditional Wiccan black salt has many uses based around protection, healing, and cleansing. Below are some examples of the specific uses for black salt.

•  Protection from bad dreams
• Casting lines to set boundaries against negative energies
• As a physical cleansing agent (such as an additive to floor detergent, bathing salts, etc.) to remove negative energies
•  Additional protection for magic circles
• As a talisman against negativity
• As part of traditional festivals, especially Samhain
• As part of spells

The list is quite extensive, but the general purpose is to remove, cleanse or protect against negativity – either as a solution or preventative.

We’ll concentrate on the more common uses to help you get started in the use of black salts but, as with most elements of Wicca, the results are based on the intention. That is to say that if your intention is to safeguard against negativity (using black salt as the tool), you’ll rarely go wrong.

Behind The Scenes Of Everyone's Secret Spirit

Hello, I'm back, how are you all doing?
For today's post its another behind the scenes look at Everyone's Secret Spirit. This time is not so much how things are made but more of how I live. 

So here is my altar as well as where I keep some of the goodies for making up items in our stores. Before I put up the pictures the "wall unit" is actually two units put together. They were 2 items I liked and decided they would work well with the space I had at the time, the items I had to store and the aesthetic I was looking for. 

Yep hubby left his camera on there. The skull is of course fake I bought it from some very nice people at Pigeon Creek

Can you tell I love shells plus they're great for protection

As you can see I have my own set of feather bells hanging on the door

Jars of goodies, this is only a small selection of herbs and flowers that I use.

 This has to be one of my favourite pieces of furniture. Let me know what you think in the comments

Tag It

Hello, how are we all doing, good I hope. 

I was asked the other day how I do the tags for some of the items in my shop. At one point I was buying some of the tags from stores in my area because they seemed to fit the aesthetic of the items I was making but this added to cost of item. Even though it was on a couple of pence it added up when you are making 100 smudge sticks. So I decided to blow the dust off my dies, Sizzix machine and bring out the card stock. 

As you can see from some of the items I have listed in the past that this has worked really well and I do enjoy a little down time to thread them all.

These were some of the last batch of tags its a shame you cant see the embossed purple on the back of the brown card ones.

The latest one have turned out well these were used for the last batch of smudge sticks I made.... over 100.

I do like how the white pen stands out on the black card. Of course I'm sure later on I will decide to make another variation

Fruits Of Cheer

Hello, I hope you're all feeling well. I thought for today's post I would show you behind the scenes pictures from when I dried the fruit for my Samhain/Halloween, Yule/Christmas offering jars. 

I have to say that of all the crafting I love this as well as  drying herbs for smudge sticks. The smell is awesome before and after the drying process.

For the offerings as it's the colder and darker time of the year I wanted to add some sunshine and an essence of abundance so citrus is the way to go. During these special times of the year I have these dried fruit pieces in a bowl with pine cones they add colour and brighten the house.
I hope you like the pictures, the colours look so fresh and clean.

As you can probably see I have cut oranges, limes, lemons and grapefruit. These are now ready to go into my dehydrator for quite a few hours on a high setting. Of course you can also use an airing cupboard for maybe a smaller quantity.

Once all the juice has gone then you can store them in jars for later use. When you open the jars it smells like a rich marmalade.

It's that time of year

Hello, well Samhain/Halloween has been and gone so for many people it's time to look to Yule/Christmas this is also true for us at Everyone's Secret Spirit. 

I've been busy making new items for the festive period which you may have already seen advertised on our Facebook. Kris my hubby aka KBPhotographic has been busy with taking pictures and managing the listings in our online stores Etsy , Amazon and eBay.

I have adapted some of our household protection bells so that they are a little more festive and can be used on the Christmas tree, I've already set aside a set for my own tree if and when I get round to putting it up.

As you can see these are a set of three bells instead of 6 or 12 as I usually make and therefore smaller and lighter for the tree branches. I love the ribbon with the double bow.

Also for the tree I've made some baubles with a rustic feel to them. They have herbs and flowers for the festive period which can also be used as offerings for Yule. Inside each bauble as well as the herbs I have added a talisman for peace and happiness which I'm sure everyone would want.

 Time to go and craft some more.
