This is Tizzy shes a Yorkie Russell and after waiting for 4 weeks she's finally here. While she was with her mum and brothers and sisters she was attacked by a staffy pup. It killed her sister and left Tizzy with wounds which needed antibiotics but she is on the mend and doing well. She's just getting to know her name and comes running with her tail wagging. We've taken her for her first jab and shes had a puppy check at the vets. I don't think she is looking forward to her next jab but better safe than sorry.
While Ive been waiting for her to be old enough to live here Ive been making a few tops and dresses for her. I understand that some people don't agree with dressing a dog but each to their own.
My other dogs are boys and have had their share of T's and coats so now it time for the baby of the family to join in. I had a look online at the items on sale the prices were not what I wanted to pay. In fact I worked it out that for a shop bought item costing £10 I could make at least 12. All the items in the pics to come were purchased from eBay these were new born dresses and vests and were the basis for all the designs shown.
On one purchase I got 25 vests in various colours for £5 all that was left to do was buy the lace, elastic, buttons and embellishments.
This was a baby dress which I shortened a little, cut a half moon out of the skirt so as not to hinder the back legs. I found I had to alter the dimensions for all the vests and dresses to bring the sleeves closer together for the paws to be able to move in comfort. This also meant I needed a new fastener. For this dress I used a button and a sewn loop. It was then a case of adding lace and a small bow.
For this top I used a vest, and added elastic to the under belly side, brought in the sleeves for the paws and added lace and tiny roses
These 2 items are almost alike apart from the padded heart added to the front of one. I used left over material to add a skirt.... no fasteners are need on the vests as they have plenty of room with the way the shoulders are put together.
The skit and top were purchased just as that but were altered to fit the a dos body. The skirt was made a little smaller but not tight, the top was altered as with the vests for the paws. A new fastener was added and the sleeves were shortened then cut into little strips.
A pretty little summer dress which was a larger size so I had to make the whole item smaller by adding pleats at the top, pulling in the chest piece, shortening the whole dress. I re attached the edging added a fastener, decorative buttons, peach lace and a ribbon bow also in peach. I also made a half moon shape so as not to hinder the back legs.
These knitted pieces were made using the basic stitch count for a dog dress I found online for more details of the knitted dog dress go to www.mysavannahcottage.wordpress.com.
I added the TOO SEXY lettering and left both items as small sweaters but the dog dress is very easy.
Ill add more creations as I make them
